Learning with us
Kindergarten
Kindergarten is an exciting time of discovery and learning. Through a wide range of innovative opportunities, our Kindy young people are stimulated and engaged in their learning.
Play-based learning
Kindergarten students at Macquarie College are involved in many different forms of play as they begin their formal education journey. It stimulates and enhances students’ physical, social and academic development. And through outdoor play, movement activities and hands-on experiences, our Kindy students are encouraged to develop in trial and error, teamwork, problem-solving and creativity.
The Early Years Learning framework
According to research, play-based learning allows children to “organise and make sense of their social worlds, as they engage actively with people, objects and representations” (The Early Years Learning Framework).
Kindergarten literacy
Our InitialLit Program is a research-based approach to teaching literacy. It is systematic and multisensory, integrating stories, actions, games and songs to teach students the fundamentals of reading, writing and spelling, all in a fun and engaging way.

Messy Fridays
Fridays are extra special for our Kindy students. Children learn through messy activities, such as digging in the mud, tending to their garden or exploring the bush. The students are also given safe risk-taking opportunities to further develop their confidence.
