Learning with us
Junior School
co-curriculars
At Macquarie College we value fun and give our students the opportunity to participate in a number of co-curricular activities which help them develop a variety of skills outside of the classroom.
The benefits
Overview
Students who embrace co-curricular activities enjoy a range of long-lasting benefits. We see our students grow in confidence, forge new relationships with peers outside of their year level, learn skills in problem-solving and time management, and develop a sense of belonging.
Staying involved
Our Junior School students are offered a number of co-curricular activities and we encourage participation as much as possible
Chess Club
All of our Junior School students have the opportunity to participate in social chess every Friday at lunchtime. Here, they are able to learn the basics as well as more advanced moves. For students who show a more advanced understanding of the game, they will have an opportunity to represent Macquarie College at the annual HRIS event.
Making friends
Enjoy social interactions with students you may not normally connect with
MC X
Year 3-6 learners access the Design Lab to develop their design thinking in a hands-on and innovative way. The lab offers students the ability to work with a mix of new technologies, along with a range of hand and machine tools, designed to encourage deep learning within Science, Engineering and STEM. This space is also open for students during play times.
Advanced learning
We offer students the chance to use new technologies such as laser cutters and 3D printing
Chapel Band
Chapel Band is a great opportunity for students from Year 4 onwards to become involved in sharing pieces of music during our College Chapel programmes. The songs can range from praise and worship to mainstream, focusing on a positive, uplifting message. A number of young people who have private music lessons also like to play for Chapel.
For Everyone
Students don’t need to be in any music classes to participate in Chapel Band
