Community service
At Macquarie College, giving students the opportunity to serve their community and for them to understand that they are a part of something bigger than themselves is a critical reason for our existence as a school.
Benefits of community service
Students who participate in community service experience a multitude of benefits both on a personal and an educational level. Their problem solving and planning skills improve, and they’re offered a real sense of connection with the community. Community service projects for schools often instil a lifelong commitment to show empathy and to give back.
Personal benefits
Senior students gain important personal benefits, including developing life skills and real world connections that can help with study or employment options in the future.

Year 12 Service Trip
Each year, our graduating class visits a school in a developing country and provides support in the form of resources, building and maintenance, and games and activities for local children. This trip is organised to take place as an alternative to our students participating in ‘Schoolies’ and serves as a symbolic final activity as an Adventist Christian College before students leave school and enter society.
Enjoying time
Our Year 12 Service Trip serves as a symbolic final activity before our students leave school and enter society.
School-wide fundraising
Our College is committed to giving back to the community, and each year we support a mix of charities by raising funds and awareness around the cause. An example of this is ‘Beanie for Brain Cancer’, where we raised in excess of $10,000 in 2020 to go towards research into brain cancer.

STORM Co Trips (Service To Others Really Matters)
This annual trip runs during the school holidays and gives students the opportunity to travel to some of the remote towns in New South Wales. Here, they engage in activities with children from disadvantaged backgrounds, allowing them a chance to serve those in need.
Helping others
Students are also able to contribute to improving facilities in these towns.
