MC COVID-19 Guidelines Update – 27.04.2022

Updated Household and Close Contact Guidelines for Staff and Students

The Household and Close Contact Guidelines provide advice in regards to the definition of a household/close contacts and associated expectations. In the context of MC, the following guidelines are published below to provide clarity for community members in relation to the expectations for both staff and students:

MC Staff (including contractors and volunteers)

Staff who test positive for COVID-19 or are unwell or showing COVID-19 symptoms must
continue to isolate at home.

A staff member identified as a close contact may return to school if guidelines agreed with
NSW Health are followed, including daily rapid antigen testing for 5 school days. Staff should
complete a rapid antigen test and receive a negative result before attending school. Results
do not need to be reported to MC.

A staff member who is a household/close contact may only return to work after they have
notified MC that they are a household/close contact and MC as their employer has approved
their return to the school site.

MC may ask staff approved to return to the school site to take additional precautions to
reduce the risk of transmission (e.g. daily testing).

MC Students

Students who test positive for COVID-19 or are unwell or showing COVID-19 symptoms
must continue to isolate at home.

A student identified as a close contact may return to school if NSW Health guidelines are
followed, including daily rapid antigen testing for 5 school days. Students should complete a
rapid antigen test and receive a negative result before attending school. Results do not need
to be reported to MC.

Mask Wearing for Household/Close Contacts (Staff and Students)

NSW Health requires household/close contacts over the age of 12 to wear a mask while in
an indoor setting outside of the home if not required to isolate. This includes MC staff
attending the school site while they are a household/close contact, noting that some mask
exemptions continue to apply (e.g. where clear enunciation or visibility of a person’s mouth is
essential such as when communicating with students who have hearing difficulties).

Access to RAT kits

To meet the expectations of the Household/Close Contact guidelines, RAT kits can be made
available to staff and students upon request from the MC Office.

Vaccination Mandate for NSW School Staff

The current Public Health Order (PHO) requiring staff in NSW schools to be fully vaccinated
for COVID-19 expires on 13 May 2022. Advice is yet to be published to schools in regards to
the post-13 May period.

Once an update has been published by the NSW Government we will make that available to
you, together with any resulting expectations relevant to MC.

As always, please feel free to contact us at any time if you are unsure of the current guidelines.
