Covid-19 Update

Good afternooon Parents and Carers,

Following the Premier’s press conference on Thursday 7 October , this email is intended as a brief update as we now prepare for the safe return of young people to full-time, onsite learning at MC.

Return to Onsite Learning at MC

As per the NSW return-to-school roadmap, students at MC will return to full-time face-to-face learning with NSW Health-approved COVID-safe settings in the following order:

  • from Monday 18 October – Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 12 (class of 2021)
  • from Monday 25 October – All remaining year levels

Per the schedule of dates above, online learning via MC Cloud will no longer be available for students as they return to full-time, onsite learning at MC.

In the event that your young person is unable to return to onsite learning per the above dates, as applicable please feel welcome to contact either Tonia Bentley (Deputy Principal – Junior School) or Marvin Anderson (Deputy Principal – Senior School).

The HSC exams will commence onsite at MC for Year 12 students from Tuesday 9 November as per the updated NESA HSC Exam Timetable.

Please note: As per NSW Health Guidelines, while at school, face masks are required in all indoor and outdoor settings for all staff, and all students in Year 7 and above. Masks are also strongly recommended for primary students.

Covid-19 Safe at MC

As has been the case throughout the course of the current pandemic, MC has and will continue to follow all relevant advice from NSW Health, including the current Public Health Orders relating staff vaccination, which will be fully implemented at MC.

In concert with these measures, MC will continue to implement its full range of existing Covid Safe practices such as, but not limited to, cleaning, fogging, ventilation, face masks, social distancing and usage of the QR system.

In addition, MC also maintains a close connection to the proactive advice and support provided by the Association of Independent Schools (NSW) to ensure that our school remains current with any changes to these best-practice expectations.

Finally, thank you for your prayers, patience and continued support of MC throughout the course of the current lockdown. While we know that this has not been an easy time for families, please be assured that we are very much looking forward to welcoming your young people safely back to onsite learning at MC. As the broader community continues to re-open, we will look forward to sharing news of a return to some normality in regard to upcoming school programs and events.

As always, please feel welcome to contact me at [email protected] if you would like clarification on any of the matters outlined above.

Kind regards,

Rohan Deanshaw
