Creative Stop Motion Video – A Labour of Love

Stop motion video is an animation technique described as a labour of love.  The only limit is your creativity and your time!

As part of the Senior School Technology and Applied Sciences program (TAS), students in Year 10 can get creative with this popular animation technique and flex their creativity and filming skills to create interesting short films.  Creating a storyline line, using objects or people, and manipulating these hundreds or thousands of times to create individual frames is time-consuming and detailed work.  But, for the passionate filmmaker, the end justifies the means when looking back at the process of animating an ‘object’.

The 2016 Tropfest short-film festival winner “SHINY”, was a stop motion video taking approximately 24 days shooting for the three minute film.
