Year 7 Students Serve and Shine
Mr Roennfeldt and Mrs Nowicki accompanied Year 7 students to the Woodlands Retirement Centre on Friday 12th February, during the students’ lunch hour. Six students from each of the three Year 7 classes represented the entire cohort on the day.
Each student had wrapped cookies in cellophane and tied with ribbon, accompanying hand-made cards representing Valentine’s Day.The residents gathered in a Centre common room for the day’s activities presented by the students which focused on celebrating “love for others”.
Tahlia, Holly and Lily entertained with their flutes and voices, performing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, while Tom played his clarinet (after checking with his music teacher about appropriate pieces that the elderly residents may appreciate).
Year 7 students are currently studying a unit in Class called “What Does it Mean to Be a Christian”.
Macquarie College firmly believes that Christianity must be practical and make a difference in the lives of others, and the following verse represents this week’s activities appropriately, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40.
