College Overview >> Parent and Student Associations

Parent and Teacher Association

The College seeks to foster a key partnership with parents. High priority is placed on parental involvement to strengthen the partnership with teachers while also providing a sense of community among all families. Key elements include the Open Parent Forums and PTA committees as well as the College Events Program such as the Community Golf Day, Art-and-Craft Show and the various Carnival Days.

The general activities of the PTA including its fundraising activities are designed to reflect the Christian principles, standards, and ethos of the College and will of necessity exclude such activities as raffles, disco parties, and dance parties. Food served by the Canteen and other PTA-sponsored events will be vegetarian by nature and will be in harmony with the general health principles of the College.

Student Association

Our most important partnership is with students. The Student Association is a central feature of the College. It is designed as a democratic structure within which students can take an active role in the direction and decision-making processes of the College as well as enabling them practice in responsible citizenship. o There are four standing committees, the members of which are elected in September, as are the officers. The Student Association is designed to enable students to assist in the management of the College, provide a forum for student expression, facilitate orderly direction of college activities, develop attitudes of, and practice in, good citizenship and promote the general welfare of the College.

Community Services

The College also recognises the importance of its partnership with the broader community. To that end, staff and students are actively encouraged to become involved in community projects such as Red Cross, Red Shield Appeal, World Vision, Asian Aid, Royal Blind Society, and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA).

Macquarie College Foundation

A major partnership that the College seeks to foster is with its Alumni as well as with past and present families and community supporters of the College. The Macquarie College Foundation consists of parents and community supporters who, through their membership, provide both financial and human resources for the purpose of expanding and developing the educational facilities necessary to preserve the College’s reputation for excellence. Membership of all families is encouraged.
